TY Economics – Local Politician (Paddy Kennedy) Visit In

4C welcomed Paddy Kennedy back to CPC as part of their Economics module. Paddy is a member of Kildare County Council. He has also been a Newbridge Town Councillor since 2004 and the Mayor of Newbridge. He ran in the 2011 General Election and just missed out on becoming a TD.

Paddy gave the students an insight into his decision to become a public representative. There was a discussion about local politics and Paddy informed the students about his many activities. There was also a focus on economic issues – local and national.

The students engaged in a Q & A session and it proved to be a very worthwhile learning experience. It is always a great opportunity to meet any of our public representatives and be able to put questions to them. It gives the students an ideal opportunity to learn about the work of politicians. We’d like to extend our appreciation to Paddy for visiting our school.
