TY Economics – National Politician (Martin Heydon) Visit In

4D welcomed past pupil Martin Heydon TD to CPC as part of their Economics module. A FG TD for Kildare South, he was first elected to the Dail in 2011 and was re-elected in the 2016 General Election. He is the chairman of the FG parliamentary party.

Martin is involved in a lot of activities at both a national and local level and he outlined these to the students. He has a long-standing connection with St Laurence’s GAA club. Prior to his election to the national parliament, Martin was a farmer and a local politician – he served as a member of Kildare County Council.

The students had the opportunity to engage with Martin and ask him questions. After an introduction, Martin moved on to deal with mainly economic issues which affect Ireland.

It was a great learning experience for the students and they gained a lot from it.

Thanks to Martin for visiting our school to meet our students.
